The ARCOM Conference Run!

7 September 2026 on Loughborough University Campus

Back in 2019, starting the ARCOM Conference with some physical activity before the intellectually demanding sessions seemed like a good idea to us. So now in 2026 we continue with our now traditional pre-ARCOM Conference social run.

Instead of formal attire, attendees wear running clothes and trainers, embracing the social aspect of jogging or walking at a leisurely pace that allows conversation. Those wishing to run faster, as in previous years, are welcome to do so and will find others to compete with.

The run consists of two laps around a 2km course on the university campus, ending with a lap in the stadium, covering roughly 5km altogether. The run will start and finish at the Loughborough University Athletics Track on Epinal Way. The course is predominantly flat, with just 16 metres of elevation per lap. If you'd prefer to do just one lap, you’re welcome to join as well. The route will be marked with ground arrows, and supporters will help guide participants. Supporters are also encouraged to attend. It’s just a short walk from Burleigh Court to the course.

The meeting point and start
We will meet at the West Park Teaching Hub, leaving there at 8:30am, and then collect runners from Burleigh Court Hotel shortly after that, before heading to the athletics track. Alternatively, you can go directly to the track.

We are aiming to start the run at 09:00 (sharp).

Following the finish, runners can head back to their accommodation for a shower. Based on our previous experience, this should be plenty of time before the conference's opening session starts.
