The construction industry is changing rapidly. But are we asking the right questions about what needs to change, and how can research and industry work together effectively to find the answers?

ARCOM provides the opportunity for us to critically engage and discuss our research. This year, for the first time, we are expanding the format of the conference to bring researchers and industry together for a different kind of conversation on the final day of the conference.

The focus on Wednesday is on how our research impact on industry and the broader society. For industry, connecting with ARCOM provides a unique opportunity to access new research and emerging ideas, challenge established thinking, and identify insights that are relevant to their organisation. The Industry Forum provides us with the opportunity to showcase our work in a setting designed for open and accessible engagement with non-academics.

Therefore, Wednesday afternoon is planned as a hands on, interactive forum designed to encourage frank, constructive, and thought-provoking discussion between practitioners and researchers. We will explore what the latest research can offer industry, where research is falling short, and where important questions remain unanswered.

Who is expected to attend from industry?

We have advertised this event to industry leaders, senior practitioners, clients, consultants, and policymakers who want to understand where construction is heading and play an active role in shaping it. We have asked them to come prepared to share their experience, challenge assumptions and ask the difficult questions.

Forum format

The forum format is currently being finalised. Launched straight after the official close of the conference, the industry participants will join us at the conference venue for a networking lunch. The forum will then kick start with an expert panel discussion, before breaking into small groups for dynamic roundtable conversations. The forum will offer our ARCOM delegates ample opportunities for networking and sharing with industry participants.

This special event is included as part of the ARCOM registration and is free of charge for our delegates.
